FrostWire 7.1.1-build-333 Release Notes:

FrostWire 7.1.1 build 333

October 14, 2026 FrostWire 7.1.1 is a maintenance update to 7.1.0, fixing desktop crashes and a Linux clipboard-related UI freeze, with better diagnostics for future freeze reports.

What's fixed

  • SoundCloud search and downloads handle HLS AAC tracks. Downloadable tracks are no longer filtered out solely because SoundCloud supplies segmented AAC instead of progressive MP3. HLS audio is assembled into an M4A file; progressive MP3 remains supported, and the download-permission restriction is unchanged.
  • Linux search-box focus no longer waits on the clipboard. X11 clipboard selection retrieval could block the UI thread for more than five seconds. Automatic clipboard reads now run in the background; delayed results are discarded if focus or text changes. The clipboard-search preference and duplicate-URL protection remain in place.
  • Library views no longer crash during background scans. Reading or refreshing a media-type library view now safely shares its file cache with scans and cache clears, preventing the HashSet.toArray() / ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException race reported in build 332.
  • Transfers stay stable when the background pool is busy. The once-a-second scan for clearable downloads is coalesced to one scan at a time. If the pool is full, that tick is skipped instead of throwing an exception on the UI thread.
  • Opening a moved, deleted, or inaccessible file no longer produces an unhandled background error. File and folder opening failures are handled without escaping the background task.
  • UI freeze reports now contain the captured EDT stack. Anonymous reports include structured class, method, and line information (up to 64 frames), rather than only an AWT event name. This helps us identify blocking operations; it does not claim to fix every freeze. No file paths, event contents, or application logs are sent.
This release advances the desktop version to 7.1.1 and build from 332 to 333. It retains the distributed search, peer catalog browsing, and other features introduced in FrostWire 7.1.0 build 332.

Full changelog

  • fix:SoundCloud search and downloads work with downloadable tracks served as HLS AAC; segmented audio is saved as M4A instead of a playlist, while MP3 progressive downloads remain supported
  • fix:Focusing the search box no longer freezes the Linux UI while waiting for the system clipboard; automatic clipboard reads run in the background and stale results are discarded
  • fix:Opening or refreshing media-type library views no longer crashes when a background scan adds files while the view reads its cache
  • fix:Anonymous UI freeze reports now include the captured EDT stack so blocking operations can be diagnosed, instead of reporting only the event name
  • fix:The Transfers list no longer crashes the app when the background task pool is busy — the once-a-second check for clearable downloads is now coalesced to one scan at a time and skipped for a tick if the pool is full, instead of throwing into the UI thread
  • fix:Opening a file or folder from FrostWire no longer reports a crash when the file was moved or deleted since you clicked it, or when the system denies access — the failure is handled in the background instead of escaping as an IllegalArgumentException
